"Good morning everyone! This is Hackles of the Premiere Morning Show and guess what? We have, not 1, not 2, but 3 special guests today!"
All of Premiere FM was abuzz with excitement. Three special people were coming into their studios today - two were already celebrities in their own right and the other came for a 'reunion' of sorts.
"All right everybody...let's welcome our first special guests, Darren Hayes and Daniel Jones of Savage Garden!" announced Hackles, followed by applause from both the tape deck and from the crew. "Good morning guys!"
"Good morning Hackles!" said Darren. "It's such a pleasure to be here! I used to listen to this radio station ever since I was a little kid!"
"So did I!" continued Daniel. "In fact, I once called in to this station about eleven years ago...do you remember that?"
"I sure did!" replied Hackles. "I keep a tape of all the callers to my morning show ever since it started!"
"No wonder you sounded so familiar, Jonesy!" said Darren in surprise. "I heard you call the radio station years back!"
"Well, well, a reunion!" said Hackles, which made everyone laugh. "But there IS another person we are reuniting with..."
"Who?" asked the guys from Savage Garden.
"Well, do you remember my baby cousin?" asked Hackles.
"You mean Amila?" asked Daniel. "Yeah, sure! I'm the one who figured out what she was saying!"
"Well, guess what?" said Hackles. "She's right here! Guys, bring on Amila Jayne Kutsia, the Premiere baby!"
"Hi guys!" greeted Amila as she sat beside her cousin. "It's such a pleasure meeting you...I'm big fans of yours!"
"She's your first ever fan!" continued Hackles.
"What do you mean?" asked Darren in slight confusion.
"Well, you did say you heard the first broadcast with her, didn't you?" asked Hackles. "She's the one whose first words were Savage Garden, Darren, Daniel and Brisbane...hmm, sounds like you guys!"
"Oh my god! You're right!" said Daniel. "She DID say that!"
"Before I continue, let me ask something," interrupted Amila. "Did the name of your band come from me?"
"Maybe - I'm not sure!" replied Darren. "You see, Daniel & I were busy choosing names for the band and Savage Garden just kinda popped into my mind! I had to think of an excuse for using that name, and realized that Anne Rice mentioned it a lot in her books. That name was used and here we are!"
"Strange, but not as strange as something else that happened," said Amila. "You see, I was watching my baby videos when I heard myself - at the age of 1 of course - humming a tune. That tune happened to be the tune to I Want You!"
"You must be kidding!" said Hackles, who was in surprise.
"I'm not! Really!" said Amila. "You have that tape of me at 1986 - why don't you play it and check it out yourself?" Hackles played both the humming bit of Amila's baby recording, and also a bit of I Want You, and to everyone's surprise, they were exactly the same.
"Miraculous!" exclaimed Darren. "But how..."
"This is pure magic," continued Daniel. "Nothing else could explain this...really!"
"Well, well, our Premiere baby has turned out to be a Savage baby!" said Hackles. "Don't you agree, guys?"
"You know, you've just given us an idea," said Daniel. "Why don't we sponsor Amila for as long as she lives?"
"Yeah, she will be a welcome visitor to all our concerts and even be allowed backstage!" continued Darren. "We will sponsor her education and maybe get her some music training...who knows, she might be the next Savage Garden!"
"Oh my god, are you serious?" asked Amila, who was replied with approving nods from Darren and Daniel. "Really? Thank you!" Amila's family was of average income, and Amila's sponsorship will really benefit her and her family.
"Welcome to Savage Garden, Amila!" said Darren. "Our own Child Of The Garden!"
"Well, that's it for today, folks!" said Hackles. "I'll leave you with To The Moon And Back...until next time, there's no channel like Premiere!" As the soft strains of the song played, Darren and Daniel happily escorted Amila to their limo, and together with Hackles, went to a local cafe to celebrate a new arrival.
