Born: December 2nd, 1960 Height:
5'10 Hair: Brown, blond, red, even purple at times. Whatever moves him
at the moment. Sav's parents are Sally and the late Kenneth
Savage. Sav has two brothers. Bryan, a doctor and John, a chef. As a
boy, Sav was (and remains) a devoted Sheffield Wednesday fan. A soccer
protege, Sav had the chance to play for either his beloved Wednesday or
Sheffield United. Taking advice, Sav decided reluctantly to play for
United. They were the more successful team at the time. Even though United
never lost when young Savage was on the field, Sav decided instead to
investigate his music. All the better for the world of music. Sav
formed "Atomic Mass" with Pete Willis and Frank Noon. After a dubious
audition in Sav's bedroom singing 'Stairway to heaven' a tall, dark-haired
Joe Elliott was hired to sing. When Joe came into the band, the name "Deaf
Leopard" came with him. The departure of Noon and addition of Steve Clark
and Rick Allen completed the lineup. A little rearanging with the spelling
of the name and thus Def Leppard was born. Pete departed the band, and
Phil Collen of "Girl" stepped in. Despite having Rick Allen lose his
arm in the mid 80's, the band enjoyed unprecedented success with the
"Hysteria" album and tour. After the tragic loss of Steve Clark,
Vivian Campbell of Belfast, Ireland, joined the group. In 1993, Sav
suffered an attack of Bell's
Palsy, a condition that causes the facial muscles to weaken or become
paralyzed. Enduring the event bravely, Sav has recovered almost
completely. Sav now lives in Sheffield England with his girlfriend
Paige and her daughter Jordan. Sav and Paige have two sons, Tyler Kenneth
and Scott.
