The Bible says it matters a lot. Jesus the Son of God is very important. He suffered agonising crucifixion to save you from a lake of fire, which is hell. Why do you need to be saved? Because we are all sinners, and after death an unrepentant sinner cannot enter God's kingdom. The Bible says: "For all have sinned and come short of the glory of God."(Bible ref (1)) All means everyone. Also: "For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord."(2)
Jesus came to forgive your sin. Only He can do it. He says: "No-one comes to the Father except by me."(3)
On that cross He took your sin upon Himself - to save you from that lake of fire, which the Bible says is the second death. Before being crucified for you He had a crown of thorns jammed on His head. Ever been pierced by a thorn from a rosebush? Yes, it hurts. Imagine dozens of those piercing your scalp! Jesus was spat upon and verbally abused. Then flogged by thirty-nine lashes of a Roman whip with pieces of metal attached to the thongs. All this before being nailed to the cross. All this for you.
This is the man who turned water into wine, made the blind to see and the cripples walk, and raised Lazarus from the dead. Yet it was God's plan for Jesus His Son to be impaled on a cross like the two common criminals alongside him.
With all due respect, it wasn't Mohammed, Buddha, Krishna, the Virgin Mary or the Pope who suffered that. It was Jesus. He did it for you, dear friend. How foolish to reject Him. Indeed the Bible says: "How shall we escape if we neglect such great salvation."(4) We can escape many things - but not God!
Jesus isn't just a religious figure; He is the difference between eternal life and eternal death; the difference between heaven and hell. Literally, Jesus will be the judge and jury of every person on planet earth who has not received Him as saviour.
Christ offers you eternity in heaven, your sins forgiven. He offers the chance for you to get right with God whilst alive. It's similar to inheriting money. A lawyer writes with regard to the amount due, but you must reply. You have to claim the money and sign for it! Jesus has achieved your salvation but you must take action.
Recognise you are a sinner now, for the Bible says: "Behold, now is the accepted time; behold, now is the day of salvation."(5) It says also: "Repent and let every one of you be baptised in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins; and you shall receive the gift of the Holy Spirit."(6) To repent means to do a U-turn, be sorry for your sins, decide to follow Jesus, read what He says, put it into practice.

OK, SO HOW DO I GET SALVATION? Say this prayer, but you must be sincere. "Lord Jesus, I admit I am a sinner, as the Bible says. I now ask your forgiveness. I repent, and ask you to come into my heart and life. I want to be baptised in your name. I decide now to follow you. I want to love and serve you. Thank you Lord Jesus. Amen." Then join a church which puts Jesus first.
