Mythology

Saturn was a God of the State in Roman mythology.  He was the protector of the sowers and the seed.  Also, he was the God of Time.  Saturn's weapon was a scythe.  Before Jupiter, he was the ruler of the Gods.He was the son of Uranus, and the father of Jupiter, Neptune, and Pluto.  In Rome, they had a festival for Saturn called Saturnalia in December.  Parents gave their children gifts and there was a public dinner; hence some Christmas traditions.  Other names Saturn is known by are Old Father Time and Cronos.
