These are two different islands, based on the same
chain of volcanic islands.
Mount Tharakkhizum is an active volcano that is
at the head of the mountain range of Khalam-Durag.
On the volcano live a few different races - Aerdinals,
Dwarves, Gnomes, and a family of dragons. The foothills
and beaches, as well as the city and lighthouse to the
south of the volcano house more of the above races with
the added handful of humans.
The southern island in the strand - Tir-Nag-Mel is quite
differently populated. The jungles are the homes of some
Lympago, Beneloup, Elves, Seelie, Unseelie, Drow, Urisk,
and in the marshier parts of the jungle, tribes of Lizardmen
may be found, though, they are quite elusive. On the mountains
of Khalam-Darag, Aerdinals, Dwarves, Gnomes, and dragons have
made their homes here. These mountains are the tallest mountains
on Saturnalia, stretching from the sea bottom all the way
up in to the atmosphere. Some sages claim that they extend
up in to the houses of the Gods. At the base of the mountains
is the cool, temperate forest of Glinoril, in which Urisk,
Seelie, Unseelie, Halflings, Elves, and beneath the forest
floor, far underground the Drow, Gnomes, and Dwarves have
carved out their homes. There have been rumors that the
caverns and tunnels of the Drow have been dug so far beneath
Saturnalia's surface that not only may they reach far across
the seas, but they reach down in to the domain of the Daemons
as well.
