Ben: Girl, I want you to become my bride,
That's why I'm showing you
my more introspective side.
Voluptuous woman: Ooooooh.
As usual, there is an important lesson to be learned here. In this reviewer's opinion, the best and most effective works of poetry are simple, and are about simple things, like rain or love. In the above piece of poetry, we see stark simplicity at its finest. While not quite short enough to qualify as haiku, Ben puts all his cards out onto the table, so to speak, and delivers the message of an entire song in a few simple lines. By removing descriptions and other silly comments, we remove any confusion from what is being described; true, bold love. There is nothing to distract the reader from the fact that the poet is in love, and cannot think of anything else. And now for the lesson: When we beat around the bush and avoid the real truth, we are taking the chance that our feelings might be misunderstood . However, the benefits of simple communication are obvious here, and indicated by the voluptuous woman's yowl. Cheers to Ben, and cheers to all of you who speak your minds and tell it like it is. And so it is. Amen.
