This opus is the dopest (x4) (Truly, of the proper opuses, #2 is absolutely the dopest.)
Good Look #2:
Yo why does Ben get all the fans? (Mike proves
true the countless rumors that he has always held a seething jealousy for
the institution which has become Ben Flash.)
cause his name's in the name of tha band
maybe an example will help you understand better
light as a feather, the half written songs hit crowds ages 8 through
10
shout out loud
"Ben! Ben!"
again and again they cry
"Ben! Ben!"
while I stand by hittin my drum (At the time
that this verse was written, Mike was still using only one drum for performances,
which could hardly be called outrageous; it wasn't even a real drum, but
rather a dirty old bucket he found in the garbage.)
twiddlin my thumbs
makin the news waitin to hear
"We love you good look number two!"
but no one ever comes to the guy with the drum
and the dopey red visor that
clashes with the whole room (A hindrance to Mike's
popularity has always been his weak sense of fashion. He has
also been spotted with plaid pajama pants, and a plaid button down shirt.)
crash boom! my thoughts are consumed by a brilliant idea to
improve my bad mood.
Hey, dude, I need a cool name to go with my hat
"Mike Flash?"
I like the sound of that!
Chorus:
Yo i try to talk to ben but he's always on the phone
yo girls what's your weakness? BEN!(One of the
first sections of Opus #2 to come together, obvious connections are to
be found between the chorus, and lyrics from (M.C.)Hammer's "Funky Head
Hunter" album.)
i try to talk to aaron but he always alone
yo girls what's your weakness? BEN!
i try to talk to mike but he's never at home
yo girls what's your weakness? BEN!
We got one turntable and a casiotone
(One turntable and a casiotone)
Good Look #1:
And so here I am, Good Look #1
I'll tell you my tale as I sit on my thumbs (An
allusion to Mike's boredom in the first verse, this line is a testament
to Aaron's laziness.)
No guitar, so drum, just my voice and a chair
Sometimes I wonder why I'm even here
Then a realization comes to my mind
Without me in the band, our fans would wish they were blind. (Before
the name of the band was finally decided upon, Aaron insisted that the
group be called, "BEN FLASH, OVERSHADOWED BY GOOD LOOKING AARON, ALONG
WITH SOME OTHER GUYS." It was in light of these terrible suggestions that
the group decided that Aaron be the 'Ringo' of BGL.)
It's not Kar-"win," it's Kar-"lose!"
You all show up to see our jams
Who are you to say we're not a real band???
"That Mark, he's one baaad Motha-"
"Shut cho' mouth!"
"I'm just talking bout Mark!"
"We can dig it!"(The final of the rap verses written, Aaron takes the rare opportunity to zing Mark, who is, after all, one baaad motha--.)
Chorus
Yo Marky K break it down
Ben Flash:
Yo my name's Ben Flash now don't you forget it (Finally,
Ben gets a chance to reply to most of an opus's worth of insults; with
ten opuses' worth of bravado, Ben Flash Style.)
I'm up in this spot and I will never let it bring me down
that I'm surrounded by these clowns
who can't hear the sounds of the music that is happenin in my head
they might as well be dead!
cause like I said..
I'm the lynch pin (Ben's name is in the
name of the band, and all of a sudden, he sees himself as some sort of
crucial member.)
yeah it's a sin
to call my brothers out but it's all about
respect and I been decked by the brothers,
Mike Flash you know that you got an ugly mother (This
line was absolutely uncalled for. Ben was just mad about having to
leave dirty words out of his section of the rap.)
and I'm sorry bout that, but oh drat!
cause when I'm out with the kitty-cats givin em hat
I know
that i should be goin solo
eaten my rolos (In the small universe of
BEN FLASH AND HIS BOYISH GOOD LOOKS, certain themes, like this one, are
bound to appear more than once.)
hear the ladies be like "WHOALO!"
but while I'm havin fun with my brothers in the sun
I'll stick by the book and I'll stay with the look
Chorus
The Uno cube tells ya where to move (fadeout)
Summary: Ben's last line, "I'll stick by the book and I'll stay with the look," is very indicitive of the nature of this opus. Naturally, all the members, at some points, feel animosity toward one another. For the good of the music, though, Flash and the Looks put their anger, spite and tears aside for the good of the people. In the end, they always move together with the proverbial, "Uno cube."
