STANDUP still has the majority block in the local student council of the UP College of Mass Communication. Seven of the positions, including the top three spots, are dominated by the STANDUP party. The rest of the six positions belong to the ISA party.
The new chairperson position is held by former vice-chairperson Rupert Mangilit (STANDUP). The vice chairperson is won by Paula Lim (STANDUP), while the executive secretary position is held by Jihad Mariano (STANDUP). Michelle Miranda (ISA) won the treasurer position, while Jo Jovan Cerda (ISA) is the new CMC Representative.
The departmental positions are shared by the two parties. The Journalism department was dominated by STANDUP while the Film department by ISA. The BroadComm and CommRes departments meanwhile have a representative from both STANDUP and ISA.
Because of the almost equal representation of the two parties, many of the students feel that the primary concerns of the students will finally be met. Number one among these concerns is the question of organization tambayans. Another problem faced by the council right now is the prospect of the student code which contains many provisions which are deemed not student-friendly.
