A Few Beautiful Minds

"In my mind I find
I can't rely on myself."

I saw A Beautiful Mind last night. I had a grudge towards the movie for a while because it beat of Lord of The Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring at Best Picture at the Oscars. However, I have not gone to the movies for at least a month or two, and I needed to see something.

I recommend the movie. Not to everyone, though. When you see it, most of you will decide it's too boring right from the beginning, or confuse yourself by trying to understand what exactly all the formulas mean, or what Nash is trying to achieve. Don't. If you see it, I'll tell you now - all the work he's doing at the beginning is to get a higher placement of some sort at Wheeler with his 'original idea.'

I could kind of see where John Nash was coming from for most of the time. In the beginning, some classmate of his, (Martin, I think was his name), challenged him to a game. I don't know what it was... very mathematical, and used marbles. Anyway, all through the game, Martin - who is going for the same position at Wheeler - is taunting him and saying, 'What would you do if someone was just... better than you.' And he beats John at the game. They laughed at him, made him look like an idiot, and he knocks over the board in frusteration, claiming there was something wrong with the game. I was like 'Hell, I know exactly what that's like...'

Also, after being asked so many times why he doesn't interact with people much, he says, 'I suppose that is because I don't like people too much, and more importantly, people don't like me.' Sound familiar? Man, I don't like people.

In no way am I trying to say that I'm a genius. No, no, no, no, no. I don't know anyone who can be that smart. I'm just saying, there's a lot of things this guy said that I understood. Which is probably why I enjoyed this movie more than some people I know. They just didn't get it.

I don't know where I'm trying to get... I guess, just go see the movie. You'll be paranoid for a while, but you'll get used to it. *wink wink* ahhaha.
