The old testament
The old testiment is mostly directed at the Irsalites, and though it contradicts itself a few times to say the least, many of its moral codes are really an idealistic veiw of the way we should live our lives. Though it does advocate slavery in certain situations, it also set rules for it, many of which were ignored during colonialization america. There is no Jesus here, no Christ, this was a time when G-d (a Jewish way of putting the word God, somthing to do with not wanting to spell God.) Walked the earth and related directly to the people.
That does lead to another question, why did God decide to no longer walk the earth? Why do modern Christians who are trying to convert tell you the only way to God is trhu Jesus? Here is a large set of text that states that God can be talked to thru the heart, without Jesus. Faith here would state "Got Jesus? Why would we need him?"
