Whereas the Gunslingers progress through their Khefs, the Lone Guns strive through an "ascension" through the Seven Circles encountered on the Lone Gun path. Each circle has specific requirements that, once fulfilled, will allow the Lone Gun to advance both in rank and in enlightenment. Once a Lone Gun has ascended to join the 7th circle, he or she should truly understand what it means to be one of Satan's elite.
