New discussion board - 23:58 CET

• Today we launched our new discussion board! This one is much more stable, causes less errors and doesn't leak system resources. In other words, our new disussion board can do the job much better with the current visitors number.
  To the question "What happens with the old postings?" I can say that those will still be available, at least for the next weeks. Unfortunately it was not possible to convert them, so sooner or later we have to say goodbye to the old postings anyway. Well, people survived more serious situations...
  Have fun with the new board. Oh, and eh... Please DON'T use it to ask for keys, ok...?

Viasat closing broadcasting off CTV pack. - 12:12 CET

• At 13-10-2000 Viasat will stop broadcasing of the CTV pack. Channels in this pack is : CNN, Discovery Channel, TCC Nordic, TCM, Cartoon Network, Animal Planet, Sky News and National Geographic. Canal Digital will continue to broadcast these channels.
  News is from a Danish magazine.

RDV stopped D2Mac transmission - 17:32 CET

• 14 September was the last analog D2Mac transmission of Rendezvous on 12.282 V, Hotbird 13 deg. East. Reason for this is the shortage of analog capacity on Hotbird, according to RDV.
  Before the end of the month RDV will be back with digital services. Existing subscribers will be offered either a package with digital receiver + Common Interface, or just a Common Interface at high discounts.
  RDV will transmit via Astra 19.2 deg. East and Hotbird, using either Irdeto or Mediaguard.

FunCard Lite & FunProg Lite are here! - 12:30 CET

• New layouts have been made for the FunCard and the Programmer. Check out the Downloads section (FunCard Hardware) to get the layouts for FunCard Lite and FunProg Lite.
  FunCard Lite is single-sided. The design is kept as simple as possible, so that everybody should be able to build it themselves.
  FunProg comes in 2 different versions, depending on the parallel connector you want to use (D-sub or Centronics)

New software coming up... - 01:09 CET

• Although half of Europe is (still) on holiday, the WhoCares group is currently working quite hard to finish some new software.

  FunProm 2.28 will -according to the plan- fix a reported problem where external EEPROM files that were read from the FunCard and saved to harddisk cannot be recognized by FunProm.

  And FunSoft SECA beta2 is coming up too! This version is currently under serious beta-test before it will be released to the masses. The most important feature of this new release will be REMOTE UPDATE! This will allow users to update their SECA keys with the remote control, so no re-programming of the card will be needed.

  Just stay tuned for the release of this great new software!

  DVB2000 Project discontinued - 15:42 CET

• After another hacker attack on the discussion forums at Dr. Overflow's DVB2000 support site (http://www.dominance.net/overflow), the descision has been taken to close the forums. A news fact on the site states: "It really seems, someone tries to take over our project by force. I have to give up at this point and will go to join real life, now.", which quite clearly indicates the end of a -by now- legendary project.

  Furthermore Dr. Overflow stresses in German language, that he has nothing to do with recently published versions of DVB2000 which include a smartcard emulator. With the currently public information it is very easy to embed or add a smartcard emulator into the already existing software. But due to these software versions, Uli claims to receive both money offers and very serious threats on a daily basis.
  He also asks Pay-TV providers to finally do something, like (at least) exchange smartcards.
  Dr. Overflow sais to be tired of being put under pressure from lots of directions, especially because he is against this form of piracy (where lots and lots of money is involved).

  With this, there has come an end to the development of the most popular operating system for all Nokia MediaMaster-family receivers.
