Monsters

The Vampire

Vampires.....fact or fiction? The flying mammal found in Central and South America are fact.  They feed off the blood of animals such as cattle. The vampire of our popular culture, myth and folklore is a human of the undead.  An immortal who needs blood to survive. Dracula is the most famous vampire ever known as seen in our popular culture of books and movies.  Do vampires currently walk among us cloaked in the darkness of the night?  Fact or fiction.....you decide!

The Werewolf

The werewolf is a true shape-shifter changing at will or by the light of a full moon.  Werewolves never age so could be virtually immortal.  However they can be killed by a wound that causes damage to the heart or brain. A person can become a werewolf through sorcery, by a curse or by a bite from a werewolf.  Once they taste human blood they are eternally damned.

Grim Reaper

Better known as Death, the grim reaper carries a scythe and an hourglass.  He rides a black horse and a crow accompanies him on his travels.  Skeletal beings are his helpers.

The Mummy

Mummification was performed by the ancient Egyptians as a religious ritual.  The brains were extracted through the nostrils and the internal organs were removed and placed in jars.  This readied the body for eternity.  The body was then wrapped in linens and placed in a sarcophagus.  The urban legend of Amen-Ra is one of the best known tales of the supernatural involving a mummy. Frankenstein

Mary Shelley published her book "Frankenstein" in 1818 inspired by a nightmare of her dead infant daughter being brought back to life.  Frankenstein continues to instill fear in the hearts of mankind .....fear of the unknown consequences of scientific experiment.  Popular culture has kept Frankenstein alive and one of the favored monsters of all time.

"God makes all things good; man meddles with them and they become evil."

-Rousseau-

Witches

Popular culture typically depicts witches as evil old hags dressed in black standing over a cauldron brewing spells. Withes were thought to be able to transform into black cats in order to be able to have easier access to their victims. They were said to worship the devil and work black magic spells on those unfortunate enough to have drawn the attention of the witch.

The Devil

Better known as Satan, he is the supreme spirit of evil, who rules over a kingdom of evil spirits. A fallen angel cast out of the heavens, he is to wreak havoc and spread his evilness throughout the world.
