Compassion

Continued....

Daniel opened his eyes to find himself in another room of the palace, his hands bound once again over his head this time hanging from a beam in the ceiling, his feet barely touching the floor. Blinking to try and clear his blurry vision unsure that he was actually seeing the UAV in a dark corner of the room, their weapons laid out on one table near him.

"The Gods of evil have once again smiled on you." He wondered if she couldn't or simply refused to speak anything other than what Gre'lac called the ancient tongue.

"I told Gre'lac...we...weren't sent...by any Gods." His tongue felt thick, his throat sore from his earlier screams.

"You have told Gre'lac many lies. He grows feeble minded, but his son is not of age to take his place." Her smile, so full of evil and hatred made Hathor look like a angel. "However when I prove he is to weak to lead he will join the offerings and I will lead our people."

"What about his...son?"

"The Gods say he will not reach the age of leadership."

"The Gods say so...or you say...so."

"It is one in the same. The Gods speak through me." Kylan circled him slowly like a shark circling it's prey, lovingly fondling what appeared to be a green crystal. "Did the Gods tell you what this is?"

"I wasn't sent by any Gods." Daniel repeated. Damn his back felt like it was on fire and the muscles in his arms were beginning to shake.

"It is a Breshnan stone brought from the first world by my ancestor. Gre'lac has forbidden the use of it except in the most severe of punishments. Used properly it gives unimaginable pain to those who receive it's touch. Shall I demonstrate?"

"That's not necessary. I'll take your word for it."
