She'd allowed Jack to sit with Daniel as usual until his friend had awakened, insisting afterward that he get a shower and some sleep. Daniel's first question on finding himself in the SGC infirmary had been, was Jack all right. His second concerned the baby. Did the man never think of himself first? It was the third question that knocked Jack for a loop. When Janet released him from the infirmary could they return to Loshia so he could take another look at those tapestries. He had alot of questions about the goddess who'd first led them to the stargate.
The hot water couldn't wash away the guilt he felt each time he remembered Kylan telling him how Daniel had pleaded to take Jack's place for the Breshnan. 'Damnit Daniel, I'm supposed to be the one protecting you.' He couldn't even yell at Daniel for doing something so stupid. Daniel knew him to well. If he remembered Kylan's words and knew Gre'lac had told him everything that had happened while they were seperated, he'd also know the guilt Jack carried. A guilt Daniel would feel responsible for. No, he'd never say anything to his friend.
Tossing the bloodstained uniform into the Hazmat bin, Jack combed his fingers through his damp hair, hurrying through the quiet corridors back to the infirmary.
Shaking his head in wonderment, Jack stood in the doorway watching the peaceful figure sleeping in the infirmary bed. Reassured by the continuous beeps and blips of the machines monitoring Daniel's condition, he nodded to Janet and headed for his quarters. Jack would sleep here tonight in case his friend needed him. He'd said it before and no doubt would have occasion to repeat himself again; Daniel would never cease to amaze him.
