"Bannock wanted to know why the Goa'uld would want to destroy us." Daniel explained to his team mates. "I told them the Goa'uld were a race of thieves who stole a person's body and killed others to take what they wanted. I told them the Goa'uld want to destroy us because we don't want to be slaves or let them make slaves of other people. Sorry but it's the best explanation I could come up with."
"I think you pretty much covered it." Jack turned his attention to Bannock who was once again speaking.
"He wants to know why we don't remove Teal'c's Goa'uld larvae if they're evil spirits like we claim."
"Oh for crying out loud!" Motioning Teal'c to stand up, Jack rose to his feet, placing his hand on the Jaffa's shoulder. "This man was raised on a world that was enslaved by the Goa'uld. He was taught to believe they were Gods. When he found this to be a lie, he turned against them saving our lives as well as alot of other people that had been ordered put to death."
Jack paused, waiting for Daniel to finish translating. "He fights to protect others the Goa'uld would enslave and make into hosts. If we remove the...child...he will die and my people do not believe in needless killing."
"If the child grows to maturity will it not steal another person's body?" The question came from someone near the back.
"Sir, maybe you should try and explain the difference between the Goa'uld and the Tok'ra." Carter suggested. "I mean as far as we know, the larvea may grow up to be a Tok'ra." They all knew this was less than likely.
"And just how would you suggest I do that?"
"The woman Carter once shared her body with a Goa'uld called a Tok'ra. They too need another's body to survive but unlike the evil ones they join only with those who are willing to share. Carter's father has willingly joined with Selmac, the oldest and wisest of the Tok'ra. They have stood beside us in battle against the evil ones, many times." Daniel once again repeated himself in English. "We don't know if the child carried by Teal'c will grow to be good or evil but it wouldn't be fair to either Teal'c or the child to kill them out of fear."
They spent another two hours answering questions and listening to comments before the Apakian's curiosity concerning Earth and the Goa'uld was satisfied.
"I will think on everything you have told us." Meelay informed them calling the gathering to a close and ordering the celebration to begin.
"Your chieftain is wise and you speak well Daniel Jackson." Bannock complimented them as the food was passed among the tribe. "I have been told you wish to see the temple spoken of in the legend."
"Very much so. We are a curious people who seek knowledge. I'm greatly interested in the history of your people."
"Shelaya will bring you to the temple when the sun rises." Daniel relayed the comments to Jack.
"Not alone Daniel." Jack warned, hating to think he would be the one extinguishing the spark of excitement in the young man's eyes but.the colonel's instinct's were screaming Bannock's sudden about face was to good to be true.
"And my friends?"
"They are welcome also."
