Bonnie Jean Mewes Edmonds Monday August 30, 1993 Bonnie J. Edmonds, 59, of Rock Island, died Monday, August 30, 1993 at Trinity Medical Center, West Campus, Rock Island. Services are 10a.m. Thursday at St. Joseph's Catholic Church, Rock Island. Burial is in National Cemetery Arsenal Island. Visitation is 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at Wheelan Furneral Home, Rock Island. A wake service will be conducted at 7:30 p.m. Memorials may be made to Easter Seal Foundation of Rock Island County. The former Bonnie Mewes was born Dec.14 1933, in Quincy, the daughter of Eugene and Dorothy Courtney Mewes Sr. She married Donald J. Edmonds Jan 8, 1968 in Rockford. Mrs. Edmonds owned and operated The Nicer Things Resale Shop, Rock Island, for eight years, retiring in March. Prior to that, she was a supervisor in the housekeeping department of the former Lutheran Hospital, Moline She was a former member of Hilltop Business Association, Rock Island. She and her daughter, Julie, were editors of the "Treasure Chest" newspaper. She enjoyed doing needlework and crafts. Survivors include the widower; daughters and sons-inlaw, Debra and Roy McDonnell, and Brenda and James Maxwell Jr. all of East Moline, Julie McElroy, Milan, Cheryl and Steve Reist, Muscatine, Iowa, Teresa and Mark Lucas, Wilton, Iowa, and Tawnya and Gregg Schroeder, and Kelly Edmonds, all of Moline; a son, Steve Edmonds, Moline; 10 grandchildren; and brothers, Robert Mewes, East Moline, and Terry Mewes and Eugene Mewes Jr., both of Milan.
