Dorothy L. Countney Services for Mrs. Eugene Mewes, 62 , of 831 W. 10th St., Milan, who died Sunday at Moline Public Hospital, will be 1 p.m. Thursday at Larson Funeral Home, Milan. Rev. Don Ortland, pastor of Evangelical Free Church, Moline, will officiate. Burial will be in Greenview Memorial Gardens, East Moline. Visitation will be 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. Dorothy L. Courtney was born in Macon, Mo. She married Mr. Mewes in 1930, in Palmyra, Mo. She lived in Quincy, before moving to Milan in 195. She was a waitress at Vera's Cafe. Rock Island, and the Corn Crib restaurant, Milan, Survivors include the widower; a daughter, Mrs. Donald Edmonds, of Robert E., Eugene L. jr., and Terry L. all of Milan; 15 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and a sister, Mrs. Rose Nelson, of Belleville, She died July 4, 1976. Alma L. Clayton Died Dec 10, 1982 Alma L. Clayton, 61, of 2300 79th Ave. W, Rock Island, died this morning at Pathway Hospice Unit, Moline Lutheran Hospital. Funeral services will be at 1 p.m Monday at Black hawk Bible Baptist Church, Rock Island. The Rev. Earl Baker, pastor, will officiate, and burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery, Rock Island. Visitation is from 2 to 5 p.m. Sunday at the Knox- Larson Funeral Home, Rock Island. Memorials may be made to the above church or Pathway Hospice Unit. Alma Clayton was born Oct 9, 1921, in Dallas City, the daughter of Alonzo and Margaret Douglas Clayton. She was married to Archie Burt in 1937, in Missouri. He died in 1968. She was a beautician for 20 years in the Quad-City area. She was a member of he above church. Surviving are a daughter Mrs. Robert E. Agy, whom she resided; four grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; four sisters, Mrs. Joseph L. Karmalita of Racine, Wis., Mrs. Robert Dryoel of Big Island, Milan, and Mrs. Richard Neeld of Lakeport, Calif.; and two brothers, George W. of Salton Sea, Calif., and Alvin L. of Santa Rosa, Calif. Verna Clayton Died Dec 7, 1982 Graveside services for Mrs. Verna D. Clayton, 90, a resident of Good Samaritan Nursing Home, Davenport, formerly of Casper, Wyo., who died Tuesday at home, will be at 12:30 p.m. tomorrow at Pleasant View Cemetery, Kewanee. Visitation is 5 to 9 p.m. and 9 to 11 a.m. tomorrow at Runge Mortuary, Davenport. Surviving are a son, Robert Wiley of San Mateo, Calif.; a granddaughter, and a brother, Raymond Duro of Montpelier, Iowa. |
