J. C. Cox, employed by John Atkinson, was killed when he fell from his wagon and it ran over him. ( Wednesday, July 19, 1854 )
A $500 reward is offered by Rock Island mayor for David Stoddard who reportedly murdered a woman in this city last Saturday. He is about 45 years old, 5'10", 165 lbs, with sandy hair. (Anotice in the 16 August 1854 paper says Stoddard was caught at the home of his brother in southern part of knox Co. ( Wednesday, July 24, 1854 )
