Allen Family Cemetery
Coe Township, Rock Island Co, ILLinois.
Small Private Cemetery.
From Port Byron Hillsdale Road at about 1/2 mile weast of Riverdale School, turn north at 9th Ave, North and 246 St. North. Go about 1/2 mile. Cemetery is on Tom Johnsen farm owned by Mrs. Harry Albright. It can not be seen from the road. Just brfoee coming to the farm buildings on the west, go across the fields to a weeded hillside about two blocks from road.
All the stones were broken and down, several were in more then one piece and had to be put together to read them.
This cemetery was read on August 5, 1975 by Lucille Sampon and Joyce Cornelius.

Elizabeth / wife of Samuel Ennis, died Dec 26, 1861 age 60 yeras
Samuel Ennis died April 22, 1859 age 62 / 7 mon.
Footstones:    J.S.W.             S.A.         T.G.
Candace Allen died Sept 29, 1872 age / 77 yrs / 9ms / 25days

Samuel Allen  died March 27, 1831 age 47 yrs, / 2ms / 15 days verse (hard to read) St Luke 12th Chapter 40 V.
Footstone:   C.W.A.             C.A.
Although these stones were in very poor condition, they were not difficult to read when chalked. There is no question that the 1831 death date on Samul Allen is correct. The Samuel Allen stone appears to have been a very tall colum with top design.
