Rio's Story
Anyway it was one dark and cold night. I was wondering why our owner didn't bring us back into the nice warm house. It was winter you see and dark and scary outside.
"Hey! Let us back in!" I squarked.
"It's no use," squarked Pidgey. "She can't here us. Anyway she is busy on the box thing with the buzzing sound like she is every night." (She was talking about the computer. We could see our owner through the window.)
" Oh what if she forgets us," I started to panic. " She would never abandon us would she?"
" Oh shut up 'fatty' I'm trying to get to sleep. brrrrrrr...it sure is cold. I don't like it. Why do humans get all the good stuff?" Pidgey decided to dose off in the corner.
She was right of coarse. I should get some sleep. Not much you can do in the dark really. "Goodnight Pidgey," I squarked. I stayed up because I was pretty sure our owner would bring us in like she did every night. Then the lights in the house turned off and it really was dark and I couldn't see anything at all. Oh no! I don't wanna sleep out here. It's sooo cold. At least Pidgey's asleep. Oh well... I'll just dose off in this corner. Oops bumped into Pidgey. Geez it was really dark. Pidgey shivered but I don't think I woke her up.
In the morning Pidgey wasn't there anymore. Hey! Where she go? She always wakes me up with her usual "FATTY YOU LAZY BUM...WAKE UP!!!!" Oh no! I found her and she was lying really still on the floor. What is she doing on the FLOOR? And she wasn't standing either. In fact she was lying face down. That could only mean one thing. But I didn't want to think about it.
"Hey Pidgey" I squarked softly, jumping down next to her." Fatty's here. Aren't you gonna wake up? You always wake up before me." Pidgey was very still. She didn't move. For the next couple of minutes which seemed like hours, I tried to wake her up. Then I started to feel really sad. Like an egg broke and all the rotten yolk came out inside of me.
Our owner was crying too. Well for humans they have wet stuff come out of their eyes and they make loud wailing noises through their nose. I couldn't stand seeing Pidgey like this. I started eating. Geez. Even at a time like this I don't stop thinking about eating. Pidgey would have yelled at me. Then I started feeling all sad again. The owner's mummy took Pidgey away.
"Hey where are
you going with her?" I squarked. ............"GOOD BYE Pidgey. I'll never
forget you." I quietlyt went back to my perch and decided to feel sad some
more. Our owner was sad too. I hope Pidgey had a good life.
