TECHNOLOGY FACILITATOR JOB DESCRIPTION

 

1.      Technical Operations

a.      Have a working knowledge of all technology in the district

b.      Supervise the network to insure smooth operation

c.      Assign personnel to keep everything running properly

d.      Identify common problems teacher are experiencing with technology and create a manual with solutions they could implement when personnel are unable to respond quickly

2.      Planning and Designing Learning Experiences

a.      Create a suggested software list that co-ordinates with each year’s curriculum

b.      Coordinate technology applications with instructional goals and create a listing of these

c.      Design staff development programs on hardware, software and specialized technology equipment.

d.      Recruit professionals to run staff development programs and in-service training

3.      Teaching and the Curriculum

a.      Create a K- 12 plan that lists what technology skills students should learn at each grade level including: productivity, research tools, problem solving, media based tools, and web based tools that mirrors the Core Curriculum Content Standards for Technology

b.      Assist teachers in effectively utilizing the equipment

c.      Research and find curriculum resources for teachers and maintain a link to your website that is available all the time.

4.      Assessment & Evaluation

a.      Assist teachers in the use of technology tools and programs to assess student learning

b.      Recommend evaluation strategies for improving students use of technology resources

c.      Use technology to help administrators gather district testing data and evaluate it in a way that the information is useful to future teaching of skills and practices

5.      Personal Productivity and Professional Practice

a.      Use resources from professional technology organizations to support ongoing professional growth.

b.      Use examples of emerging technology techniques in information distributed to teachers thereby promoting these techniques

c.      Use electronic mail, online conferencing and web browsers to communicate with colleagues and design and maintain the district Technology Web Site

d.      Attend conferences and workshops to maintain state-of-the-art technical literacy

6.      Social, Ethical Legal, and Human Issues

a.      Develop strategies and lesson plans for teaching social, ethical and legal issues for the use of technology

b.      Liaison with the Board of Education to create a Technology Code of Ethics and Practices for the students

7.      Procedures, Policies, Planning and Budgeting

a.      Work to achieve equitable access for technology resources across all grade levels

b.      Oversee Technical Maintenance Staff and be involved in the hiring process for new employees

c.      Work with technology staff to use troubleshooting methods to maintain hardware and software

d.      Oversee technology purchases and budgeting

e.      Develop alternative funding sources for purchases such as grants

8.      Leadership and Vision

a.      Create a district forum (chat room) where teachers can share successes and failures of their use of technology

b.      Create a communication path for teachers to get in touch with you to offer feedback on technology applications that go awry

c.      Stay abreast with new technologies and assess whether or not they could be useful for the district

d.      Create a survey to assess use of technology at each grade level and to help plan for future needs

e.      Develop a long-range technology plan designed to meet teachers needs
