COHEN CAPTIVATES Sasha Cohen is divine. She has it all. Her work is exquisite. Both of her programs are perfect jewels, and the spirit that she brought to them at nationals was captivating. Bezic says Sasha Cohen "put herself in contention for the gold medal in Salt Lake with her performances in Los Angeles." At first thought, Carmen, her long program, could have been a very tired idea. But by using the bold selections of the music as opposed to the seductive, it immediately became appropriate and more about Sasha rather than the character, Carmen. I love that her jumps are so exactly placed to the phrasing of the music. Sasha put herself in contention for the gold medal in Salt Lake with her performances in Los Angeles. If she skates as well as she can, I hope the judges do not use her relative inexperience, or the fact that she has an amazing future, against her. She, too, is everything an Olympic champion should be. Michelle, Sasha, and Sarah Hughes, who also is talented and composed beyond her years, make up one of the most impressive American ladies’ Olympic Teams ever. To watch them compete against each other and Russia’s Irina Slutskaya will be an exciting privilege. ------------------------------------------------------ Sandra Bezic is an internationally acclaimed choreographer, producer and director of Target Stars On Ice.
