| A Soldier's Cry in East Pakistan (Bangladesh) |
| A soldier screamed, In anguish of searing pain, As he felt the jarring effect, Of worlds hatred gone insane. Stranding all hopes of brightness, Like Bin Zayed he burnt the ships, Though battered beyond recognition, There was still a smile on his lips. But courage was not able to, Keep him going forever; He was but a mortal, Death was far more clever. The ground enticed him, but resisting He gave in to the eternal embrace, And as his soul was choked to death, Visions of dear ones clouded his face. Then brushing the morbid thoughts aside, The martyr, nobly, peacefully died. Addressing the country he boldly said, I give my life for thee. As the country lost its lands Contemptuous patriots felt no pain; But the soldier, restless, in his grave Knew, his death was in vain. |
