| Help solve one of the Osborn's genealogical mysteries: Richard King (1693-1755) was a flaxdresser or flaxman in Bristol, England. He and his family lived at 59 Baldwin Street in Bristol, England. (This is apparently the location of Marco's Italian Restaurant today.) Richard was the organist at St. Nicholas Church near the Avon River in Bristol Engalnd. Richard may have married Elizabeth Lacy in 1716 in St. Werburgh Church in Bristol, England. They had at least one child, Keturah King. Who are the other children? A will has not been found for this Richard King. Richard King was buried in St. Nicholas parish on March 2, 1755. An Elizabeth King was buried in St. Nicholas parish on January 6, 1756. This Richard King (1693 - 1755) appears to be the son of another Richard King (1660's - abt 1715) who may have married Elizabeth Taylor in 1688 and lived in Bristol, England. Richard King appears to have married second, to Hester or Esther Stevens in 1695. Richard King, Sr, had the following children according to his will of 1715: Sarah King (nothing else knowm) John King (nothing else known) Robert King (nothing else known) Richard King (1693-1755) Richard King's will of 1715 indicates that he owned many properties in Bristol, England, including Frogg Land, Halliers Land, and Grope Land. Grope Land was granted by Sir Richard Hart, former mayor of Bristol, in 1680. All of these properties appear to have been left to Richard by Elizabeth Taylor, the wife and widow of George Taylor. George Taylor and Elizabeth Taylor may be the parents of Elizabeth Taylor (Richard King, Sr.'s first wife). Many people are mentioned in Richard King Sr.'s will, including Henry Walter, Esq., Mayor of Bristol, England (in 1715) Richard Loversidge or Loveridge, soupboiler, Thomas Parker, Cooper Anne King, mother-in-law Dinah Parker, goddaughter Morton Owen ?? Charity Clemment, witness Sarah Morris, witness John Turnbridge, witness If anyone has any information on these families, please contact Rick Gloucester Gloucester Gloucester Gloucester Gloucester Keturah Keturah Keturah Keturah Keturah St. Nicholas Church St. Nicholas Church St. Nicholas Church Baldwin Street Baldwin Street Baldwin Street Baldwin Street Baldwyn Street Baldwyn Street Baldwyn Street Baldwyn Street |
