September 2006: Diani Beach

View of Diani Beach from Diani House

In September, the girls had a couple of days off from school, so we decided to head down to the beach. We decided to stay at a beach-front house recommended by our friends Billy and Jeni. We went with the Benedicts (Jean, Collin, and Cole. Mitch had to work). Diani House was very nice, and the water was clear and warm. There were some great coral reefs about 400 yards off shore and we hired boats each day to take us out for a view. The coral reefs were great – lots of fish and plants. It made me long for my aquarium at home! On our last day at the beach, we decided to go on a Safari up to the Shimba hills NP, and then to the Mwaluganje elephant Santuary. Our Safari took longer than expected, so we ended up racing back to Mombasa to catch our flight back to Nairobi.
