Recommendations: Poner gasolina antes de subir al Parque Nacional Henri Pittier aunque hay una gasolinera en Puerto Colombia. También hay una cauchera y un puesto de la Guardia Nacional.
Recommended Activities
· La Sabaneta is a traditional cocoa estate and is the only fully functioning plantation in the Valley of Choroní. Together with a local employee, you can take a walk through the working grounds of the hacienda to see the cocoa trees and imposing shade trees, as well as the irrigation systems dating from colonial times, giving you an understanding of the development of chocolate from the plant to the bar
· Peñero trips to unspoilt beaches such as Uricao and Cepe (15 to 20 minutes from Puerto Colombia)
· A visit to the nearby colonial town of Choroní
· Canoping - rapel ascent to three tall trees- with Iguanacción in Puerto Colombia (José David Catena, [email protected], 0414-4009075)

· Specialised guided nature walks to observe the abundance of plant species such as bamboo, palms, fruit trees, bromelia and flowers
· Birdwatching of the prolific variety of species in the Parque Nacional Henri Pittier, one of the richest areas in the country for this activity
· Birdwatching in the famous Estación Biológica Rancho Grande (1.5 hours approx from the Hacienda)
· Five hour walk to the historic town of Chuao, producer of the famed Chuao Cocoa, to see its famous grounds and drying patio
· Two hour river trek to the Fundación Cultural Aguafuerte, a converted 1950’s dam and electric plant
· Longer mountain treks within Parque Nacional Henri Pittier
