| Silverwood Lake was formed by the 249-foot Cedar Springs Dam. At 3,350 feet, it is the highest reservoir in the State Water Project. The park features hiking trails, swimming beaches and designated areas for boating, water-skiing and fishing. The lake has trout, large-mouth bass, catfish and bluegill. There is a marina with a launching ramp, boat and equipment rentals, and a store. The park has picnic areas, including three that can only be reached by boat. The lakes attracts waterfowl, raptors and songbirds. Canada Geese and an occasional bald eagle can be seen in the area. TERRAIN: Dirt roads. Accessible to all 4x4 and off-road vehicles. No small motorcycle trails, but plenty for 4x4's, SUV's and other large vehicles. All vehicles must stay on designated roads. DIRECTIONS: Interstate 15 north to Hwy 138 east (Cajon Junction area). Dirt roads and wide trails branch off of HWY 138 as you approach Lake Silverwood, so keep your eyes peeled. Most of the trails (like 2N43 and 2N63) are well marked. |
