"Just on the border of your waking mind, there lies another time, where darkness and light are one."
"And as you tread the halls of sanity, you feel so glad to be unable to go beyond."
"I have a message from Another Time..."
(E.L.O., Time, Time)
We have entered another dimension; we' have entered the Twilight Zone.
We are entering the Mind's Domain, a domain of Imagination. We are
treading the strange paths of Science Fiction.
I've always read (and watched, and listened to) Science Fiction stories.
Not just futuristic fiction, but there were books where common reality and imagination merged...
...almost cassually.
I do like F&SF, and there is a lot of good stuff to see, to read and to listen to.
In the movies: Blade Runner, TRON, 12 Monkies...
In TV, just for fun but Science Fiction none the less: X-Files, Babilon 5 (Gracias, Miguel), the immortal Twilight Zone (the old episodes always give me the creeps)...
Science Fiction books: Tolkien's Middle Earth (Maestro!), the Dune series by Herbert (ditto!), Asimov's works (specially, the Robots tales), the C'Thulu stories by Lovecraft...
...and many, many more.
Regarding music, I recommend Pink Floyd's early records, along with Cocteau Twins': it isn't Science Fiction proper...but they do make for a, say, interesting atmosphere for reading F&SF. Try Asimov's The God Themselves.
But if you want some real F&SF, try everyday reality. I'd also recommend watching news from Chile. Some of the things that take place here could easily fit in one of those old 50's Science Fiction magazines...
