| Achatina smithii Well I don't know much about this species, except that I have three babies that are believed to be smithii (though they're still too small to really tell). At first they looked very much the same as fulica babies, but as they grow their markings are developing into far more of a speckled effect than the fulica have. I doubt this will be their final pattern, - I'll update this as they grow. They're still very small, at just over 1cm long each, but they grow fast. I understand they grow to be smallish adults (or small for giant african snails anyway) but again, I don't know any measurments yet. Achatina smithii are rarely found as pets in the U.K. and this is why I don't have very much info on them. I will add detail to this page as and when I get more information! Pleae check back! Picture below. I guess the snails can't be more than a month old in the picture (though I did not hatch them so I cant be completely sure!)
