Dogs that need a place to call home

Please put this page in your heart

The reason I have started this Web page

I started out fostering Labs now I'm a temporary care home for Dals. This page has links to other web sites that have pictures and write ups about different dogs, that need homes. If you are looking for a dog checkout these links or go to your local animal shelter. Their are a lot of wonderful dogs that are euthanized when the shelters are full.

Their are an "estimated number of animals euthanized by US animal shelters each year because homes are not available:"

"4 to 6 million. Although the number of animals euthanized varies by geographic region, approximately 30-60% of all animals brought into shelters are euthanized nationwide."

[ Butterscotch a mix Terrier 16k ]Butterscotch: was a mess when we adopted her from a shelter. She was covered with urine and seemed like she had given up on living. They told us she was 1 years old, but she was not acting like a year old Terrier. After giving her a bath she had a new lease on life. She was acting like a young Terrier. At 2 years old she started having seizures, we found out she was an epileptic. Just one year ago we had to start her on medication at 5 years old. The seizures were happening to close together. She is now happy and her seizure are under control as long as she gets her medication.

[ Ebony a black Lab 35k ]

I'm sad to say Ebony passed over the rainbow bridge on 7-30-07. We will all ways remember how she changed our lives and all the many dogs she helped to save.

Ebony: was adopted from a family that could not keep her after they adopted her from a shelter. She is the mother in our group of furry babies. Whenever Butterscotch has had a seizure she is right beside me making sure she is OK. She loves to play baseball, she is an excellent outfielder. She all so likes to chase jet streams and (no they are not imaginary) they are real. She runs as fast as she can around the back yard, but never can catch them. She did have an accident this last winter, she was chasing a jet stream and our kids were sledding. Well, to make a long story short, she ran in to the swing set and broke her front toe. But she is all healed and still can't help her self, when she sees a jet stream she runs like mad to catch it. I don't want to be the one to tell her she will never catch it. What is so amazing is I did not know she could see that far away.

[ Raisin a Whippet mix 19k ]Raisin: is the baby of all of our furry babies. We adopted her from a girl that found her wondering the streets at about 4 months old. We know she was just let lose no one would let a 4 month old outside by it's self. She had no collar or tags and was so little. All of my pets are spayed or neutered but if I could clone any dog it would be her. The rest of my family, I don't think would agree, she is a pain sometimes. She is the only one that sleeps with me and Dad, she has from day one. Everyone else has a crate or dog pillow and they know that's their bed. Raisin is the best site dog I have ever seen and a memory like an elephant. When I walk her she looks in the trees that she has seen squirrels in. She can see a gopher along ways away and will not leave. She is still learning and now will retrieve a ball back to us. But her favorite thing in the hole world is to lay in the sun and soke it up. If you click on her photo you will see her sun bathing.

[ Rudy a black & white Dal 10k ]

I'm sad to say Rudy passed over the rainbow bridge on 1-10-07

Rudy: We adopted him from Dal-Savers Dalmatian Rescue, Inc. We named him Rudy from the movie Rudy. This guy has come a long ways from when I first saw him in the shelter. See he was the first Dal I rescued, he was skin and bones and his nails were very long. A nice lady Kay cared for him, he could not eat dog food, he would throw it up. So she feed him by hand people food, just to get him to eat. Slowly he was ready for adoption but no home seemed right for him. This dog that had come from the brink of death and back to the lovable talking Dal that he is today. I would see him on the website just waiting for the perfect home. Our family talked about adopting him, but his name just did not fit (Lit'Bit) so we came up with the name Rudy. We adopted him on 11-13-99 and know he is a beautiful happy boy that will eat as much dog food that he can. Matter a fact I had to cut back on his food so he does not get over weight.

[ Arthur a Italian grayhound/Terrier mix 12k ]Arthur: is our newest member. He was adopted from TLC Canine Center on 3-10-07. He is a very special guy that is deaf. Yes, he's a strange looking little guy, we think he's Italian grayhound/Terrier. We love this guy very much and he's such a snuggle bug. We fostered a deaf Dal that was adopted and we said if we get any more dogs, the dog would have to be deaf. Arthur is very smart he knows some hand signs and he has a collar that vibrates when we push a remote, to get his attention. Really it's very hard to tell he's deaf. He uses our other dogs and the foster dog to be his ears. If they go to the window or to the fence and start barking he will run and do the same.
