| I was hiking up a mountain beside a very wide, fast flowing river. The path had wood chips on it in some places, and a metal railing along one side of it. There were lights on the railings that could be turned on and off. Before I went hiking up the trail, I had to shave some wax off of the railing in a certain little section and then replace the razor caps in their little slots. (?) When that was done I started walking up the trail. In some places where there were supposed to be stairs there was instead a smooth surface like a slide. At the top of the trail there was a garden. It had plates or some other round flat things that needed to be put in certain places in the garden. There weren't many plants growing yet, it was mostly wet, black, sticky dirt. I put the plates into the garden and then I started going back down the path. My friend Jen was with me. We had to turn on the lights that were on the railings. Suddenly I was back across the river. I was with a bunch of people and Clint and my mom. Someone was trying to convince Clint and I to buy a car lot in a city. Mom was telling us to stay where we were because she liked it better there. Then I was at Prairie High School (in Three Hills, Alberta), preparing for graduation.I was well aware that I had already graduated, but I guess it was necessary to have a second ceremony. I started practicing cartwheels in an old gym. It had carpet on the floor and old ugly brown curtains along one wall. There were lots of people in the gym, I didn't recognize anyone. They were all making their own grad caps out of scraps of crafting materials that were in a large box. I realized I hadn't made one yet, so I was frantically searching for materials to make mine. All I could find was an old styrofoam bowl and some cloth flowers. As I was trying to put the pieces together (and failing), I thought to myself 'we don't have to make our own caps!' and POOF! I had a cap in front of me. All I had to do was change the tassel on it because it was the wrong colour. The one on it was yellow, blue and white, and the one I needed to replace it with was red and white. Then it was time to go out and sit on the stage with the rest of my 'class'. I was having trouble making the tassel stay on the right side of the cap. I walked out of the gym I was in, into another one where some bleachers were set up. I went and found my place and sat down - right beside my step-dad, Fred! I was leaning on the bench behind me while I was waiting for things to start. Then suddenly all the benches and people behind me disappeared! Instead there were piles of gifts all over the floor and a car. Then the 'ceremony' began. It was conducted by some people speaking a language I don't know. No one knew what was going on. Then some girls in t-shirts and shorts started handing out gifts to people, and that meant the ceremony was over. I climbed off the bleachers and I took my bicycle and leaned it against the wall by the bathroom. I went into the bathroom and started looking for the entrance to the swimming pool. When it was pointed out to me by a shy girl in a changing stall, I decided not to go there. Instead I went to look for my mom. I passed a large soccer field where I saw Cheryl (my aerobics instructor) teaching a grade 4 or 5 gym class. She was talking to her daughter. Then I found my mom shopping with my grandma in a ceramic store. They were looking at a piece that Grandma claimed she had wanted for a long time but couldn't buy it because it was too expensive. It was an elderly black lady lounging on a couch. She was wearing a red skirt. Again the dream changed and I was driving my car through a very small town. I was looking for my mom again. I drove around the block and ended up at a racing club. I drove through their parking lot/race track - it was gravel and dirt and very bumpy. I ended up back where I started. So I drove around the block again. But when I got back to the race track, I turned my car into a motorbike and I was wearing a black leather jacket and black leather boots that went up to my knees and had studs and chains on it. I was racing someone down the highway and I was winning. |
