What do you call happy laundry?
Mary(merry) Wash!!
It's raining men?!?  That's what we wish would happen here at the Wash!
I am 21 years old and a senior majoring in English at Mary Washington College in Fredericksburg, Virginia.  (A terrific school in a great city in the best state!)  I can't believe that my fourth and final year at the Wash begins on August 26th.  The years have gone by so quickly.  I'm really going to miss this place after I graduate this May.... but let's not think about that quite yet, let's just enjoy this senior year!  Woohoo!

My junior year-
I lived in Ball again this year (like my soph. year), and I'll be living there next year too- with my roommate Stepho.  :-)  We had a really awesome, huge room this year...and next year we'll have a great room again...although it won't be as big, it's still an awesome room on the first floor, on the front, on the corner, with two windows, and our own bathroom- yippie! :-)
Well, junior year was a pretty important year... I had a lot of work to do as my classes seemed to get harder and harder, and more time consuming this year.  I was getting more into my major classes, so that was a lot of work.  It was also a really fun year with Junior ring week and all that went with that...friendly threats from other students, the ring ceremony, and of course the ring dance... Here are pictures from the ring dance stuff and other junior year fun times. :-)

There are many activites that I enjoy being a part of on campus.  I am involved in the Baptist Student Union (
visit the great BSU webpage), MWC Ambassadors, MWC Chorus, Circle K, and Phonathon.  I even have a job on campus in the circulation department of the Library - where books aren't the only things I "check out"!  ;)

Here's some stuff from my sophomore year-

I now live in Ball Hall
(click here for a pic of Ball at the bottom of the page), which is a really great dorm.  Although not air conditioned, it has big hallways and a really cool circular staircase with an open circle that goes all the way to the top.  The windows are really large and I have a nice suite bathroom.  This building reminds me of my dorm from last year (Virginia), so it wasn't too much of a change.  During high school,  it was difficult to choose where I would be spending four important years of my life, but I finally did it with help and support from my family, God, various friends, and my high school guidance counselor.  The college decision process is a tough time...there are so many things to consider- location, academic reputation, size of college, student body, cost, campus activities...and the list goes on and on.  I congratulate all of you who have made it though this process, and feel for those of you who are still going through it.

Here is some info from my first year-
I am glad that I finally decided on Mary Washington (which I now, along with my fellow students, refer to as
"The Wash").  It's a great place and I encourage you to visit it sometime.  I love it all- my dorm (the wonderful all-female, all-freshmen Virginia Hall...it sounds a little rough at first but it grows on you, and it's in the center of campus!), my friends, the beautiful campus with cute brick walkways and sophisticated old buildings, my classes (well...that may be stretching it a little!), and the food (hey, you gotta love Seacobeck and the Nest!).

Since freshmen aren't allowed to have cars, and walking for almost an hour at 3 in the morning just isn't something you want to do that often (trust me, I know)  it was difficult for us to venture off campus.  And there are so many important things we have to do off campus- like going shopping at the mall, going out to eat, shopping in Central Park, going to a movie, and of course you can't forget going shopping.  Well, that is, it was difficult to get out until we discovered the joys of FRED- the Fredericksburg public bus system, which picks us up on campus and transports us to our desired locations.  It's a great thing to have around when we don't want to take advantage of upperclassmen friends with vehicles- although we really do appreciate them!  :-)
