| November 30, 2001 1:15 AM (abby's thoughts) Another profound statement from my roommate, "the queen of all things profound" (according to her friend Adrienne): "Hey, Emrys, what's your name again?" Sometimes I worry about Sarah. =) I hope that she finds a Godly husband who is amused at her profundity the way I am. =) I think being roommates with Sarah has been one of the greatest blessings. God totally knew what He was doing when He placed us on the same floor freshman year. I still love telling the story about how we knew about each other before coming here and then discovered that we were put on the same floor! I think we think alike in a lot of ways. That's probably why people always talk about us "fusing into one entity." Only Sarah understands my need to set my alarm an hour earlier than I want to wake up so that I can hit my snooze button 7 times to trick myself into thinking I'm sleeping in. Sarah understands my need to hug Patrick the Pup when I'm feeling sad. She understands why I love to read cheesy stories and why I can talk about Todd and Christy as if they were real people (she does that too...hee hee). Sarah understands why I sometimes just want to crawl into my covers and sleep away my worries. She understands why I like to go on a cleaning frenzy when I have a paper due the next day. She understands how crazy-busy things can get when you combine ministry, school, and friends. She understands why it's important to make signs for our rooms when we're supposed to be studying for our astro midterm. Sarah understands how hard it is to have a sibling who sometimes disappoints you and then sometimes really surprises you. =) She understands how sometimes I just need to relax with a good book and not do anything for awhile. (Freshman year, spring break, Sarah came to my house and we made all these plans to do a bunch of stuff but we ended up spending the entire week just reading and huddling under our covers in our beds. =) Our one outing for the week was to Disneyland...it was the best spring break ever! hee hee) She understands how listening to one great song over and over again is not crazy; it just means I found this great song! =) She understands that when people frustrate me, sometimes I just need to vent. She understands how hard it is to get offline to do work when having fun conversations with people. She understands that clutter doesn't necessarily mean unclean. She understands that experimenting with cooking is fun and in no way intentionally trying to poison one's roommates. =) She understands that "Gilmore Girls" is the cutest show and that our TV rituals are significant roommate bonding times. And she understands that sometimes I just need to cry and when I do, I feel so much better when she says "Can I pray for you?" Only God would know to give me a roommate, friend, and sister like that. =) ********************* |
