Michaela was in her room getting ready for supper, and it was taking her longer than usual. She would put on one dress, look in the mirror and change clothes.  She did this at least five times. Finally, she pulled out a soft pink dress, with a low cut neck and slightly off the shoulders. She put her hair up in banana curls and finished off the outfit with a cameo necklace.  She had never worried so much about how she looked before, but for some reason she wanted to look her best. After looking in the mirror for the final time, she made her way downstairs. The first person to see her was her father.

Michaela, you look absolutely breath taking Michaela bit her bottom lip ever so softly and she felt her cheeks get warm. She was rounding the end of the stairs when she saw Sully standing by her father. Her cheeks grew even warmer and she couldnt take her eyes off him, and she felt her heart begin to pound.

Sully looked at her and his breath caught. He had seen many beautiful ladies before, but none like this. There was something different about her. She was beautiful, but there was a fire in her eyes, those beautiful bright eyes. He was so entranced by her that he didnt hear Josef talking to him. Finally, when Michaela reached the bottom that he came to his senses.

Good evening.

Good evening, Mr. Sully. Glad you could make it.

We should get in there before your mother has an attack Mike Josef said holding his hand out for his daughter.

When they reached the dining room Elizabeth could hardly believe her eyes. She had never seen Michaela look so stunning before. Sure shed always wear nice dresses, but there was something different about her tonight. As if that wasnt enough of a surprise, she saw a young man.  Ordinarily she would have been thrilled, but not tonight, not by him. This young man was not one that she would like her daughter to be interested in. He had shoulder length hair, and he was wearing some worn out clothes.

Elizabeth, Id like you to meet Mr. Sully. He helped Michaela today, and he will be joining us for dinner.

Its a pleasure to meet you Mr. Sully.

Throughout dinner Michaela would steal glances at Sully, and sometimes she would catch him looking at her. Then she would simply smile and look down at her food.

So Mr. Sully, where are you from?

I was born in New York sir.

So your mother and father moved here to Boston?

No sir, its just me and my father.

Wheres your mother? Is she still in New York?

Sully looked up at Elizabeth and then down at his plate as he answered. No, she died during child birth.

Josef looked over at Elizabeth and then back at Sully Im sorry to hear that. Throughout the rest of dinner Sully told them about how his mother had died giving birth to his brother and sister, who had also died at birth.

Later that night, Michaela was in her room brushing her hair out when she heard a knock on her door. She turned around to see Liz, her younger sister enter the room.  Liz wasnt really her biological sister; her parents had adopted her when they found her abandoned in the hospital. She was only a couple of months younger then Michaela and they were close.

That was a really nice young man.

Michaela put her brush down and turned to face Liz. Yes, he was.

I saw the way he looked at you.

What do you mean?

Michaela, he couldnt take his eyes off you.

Michaela blushed and grabbed her brush again. Youre imagining things.

Liz laughed, told Michaela goodnight and left. Michaela finished brushing her hair, picked up the book from the library, settled in bed and began reading. Her favorite one so far was Cinderella. She loved how Cinderella had gone to the ball, and how the prince fell in love with her. More than that, she loved that the prince fell in love with the person on the inside.
