She took in a deep breath of fresh air and closed her eyes. �Oh Sully, I love you more than you�ll ever know. But I�m afraid I�ve lost you forever.� She closed her diary and headed back inside. As soon as she walked inside and her light was out, Sully came out from the shadows. He was going to try and talk things over with Michaela, but when he saw her staring up at the night sky and whispering to her he decided to stay in the shadows and listen. When he heard those precious words being spoken his heart melted. He longed to take her in his arms and tell her how much he loved her and missed her. However, after the way they had both hurt each other, he was going to have to do something special to show her. That next morning Michaela went to tell the reverend that she couldn�t marry him, and that he didn�t love her for the right reasons. While she was doing that Sully was talking to the kids. He had planned something special for their ma, and he was going to need their help. As they were finishing discussing their plans, Michaela showed up. She knew she had hurt them all, and she felt really bad. She apologized to all of them and promised that it wouldn�t happen again. Then to make up for all the time she missed with them, she offered to take them to a picnic. What she didn�t know was that she had just made Sully�s plan a little easier. While Michaela went to close the clinic, Sully and the children did their special tasks. Sully went to Grace�s to get some of Michaela�s favorite food including Apple Pie. Colleen went to pick some flowers and Matthew and Brian made sure Michaela didn�t find out ahead of time about Sully�s plan. After they gathered everything they needed they headed for their picnic. Sully chose the most beautiful place he could find. There was a small stream was nearby, and there were wild flowers blooming everywhere. The five of them sat down and had a lovely lunch as they caught up on what had been happening the past few days. For the first time in a while they were laughing, having fun and things seemed to go back to normal. After they had finished their dessert, Michaela began to pick things up and said they should probably get back home. Sully looked at the children and gave them the signal. Brian and Matthew asked Michaela if they could stay for a while longer because they wanted to do some fishing. Colleen asked her if they could stay a while longer because she wanted to pick some flowers. Michaela couldn�t say no to them after all that had happened so she agreed. The children took off leaving Michaela and Sully completely alone for the first time since she had told him she couldn�t be with him. The first couple of minutes were awkward and they didn�t speak. Sully knew that if he didn�t say something soon, she was probably going to find some excuse to leave. He took a deep breath got up from where he was sitting. Michaela didn�t say anything, she just figured he was still hurt and upset so she just kept looking at the view. Sully went to the wagon and when he came back he was holding something behind his back. Michaela was too busy looking out onto the stream that she didn�t notice him come back. �Michaela?� Sully asked as he sat down next to her. �Yes?� �I�m sorry, for all the pain I have caused you. Can you ever forgive me?� �Oh Sully, I�m sorry too. For everything.� Sully scooted closer and pulled out what he had been hiding behind his back. In his hands was the most beautiful bouquet of wild flowers she had ever seen. �Oh Sully, they�re beautiful! Thank you so much.� She felt tears beginning to form and there was a lump in her throat. �Sully�� �Shh�I�m still not done.� He reached for her hands and looked into her eyes.� There is something that I have been wanting to tell you for a long time.� �Since the first time I saw you face down in the mud, I knew that there was something about you. Holding hands with you when we're out at night is a magical feeling. I can�t breathe when I think about you, or talk when I�m talking about you. Every time you look at me with those beautiful eyes, I�m intoxicated. I love you, with all my heart. You are my everything, and I�ll always be here.� Michaela couldn�t find the right words to reply so she did the next best thing. She traced his face with her hand and slowly closed the space between them. She stopped when their foreheads met and whispered, �I Love You too.� ~The End~ |
