Lesson 14:
What’s on for today and why?
Students will be given this day as a break as they are getting down to the end of the novel. They can use this time to finish any computer work necessary for their portfolios, organize and determine so far what will be going in their portfolios, and getting together with their groups to go over their presentations and/or packets.
Because
their schedule is so packed with constant assignments this gives the students a
chance to get their stuff done, and ask the teacher any particular
questions. However they use their time
is up to them, this way there can be no complaints about not knowing how to do
a particular part of having questions at the end. This lesson is meant to answer questions about assignments and
about the novel. The students must time
manage in this class and make decisions.
They may want to just work on their packet, but neglect the
presentation, which is fine, but the presentation cannot lack because of this
sacrifice.
Students are given liberty during this class. Passes to the computer room will be issued only for explicit purposes. Otherwise, the students can work with their groups, discuss/go over concepts or assignments with the teacher, or get their stuff together for their final assessment. This also gives students who do not have Internet access to do any final work on their Webquests.
Homework:
Finish Chapters 24-26
How’d it go?
If students used their time diligently, and had stuff to support this claim, while relaxing and enjoying themselves (discussing the book and evaluating their own work) it was successful.
