While we were waiting for people to arrive we talked about the creation of our website, what we wanted to include- we decided we wanted to include Minutes from the meetings, pictures, and a list of e-mails.
Next we talked about our overnight at Pyramid Lake. We found the the February Break that we were planning on would be no good because it interferes with Winter CLI. We were possibly thinking Regents week in January. We also found that Silver Bay could be a possible second choice if Pyramid Lake is on available. We decided the goal for this trip would be to work on a skit for our Rally.
When everyone arrived we opened with a reflection on how we are all "Instraments of God" and how we can lead God's way.
Then we revisited the idea of the overnight. If everyone could please check your calanders and e-mail Jake with possible dates of when we can hold it.
Next we talked about our Youth Rally in june. Two years ago the rally was held a Our Lady of Grace and had a "Millenium Issues" theme. There were several different workshops and everyone was allowed to go to two. There was dinner, a mass, and a speaker along with the workshops. It lasted from 11 am to 8 pm. For this year we were were thinking of including both catholic and public schools, with a high school age group of 8th or 9th grade to 12th grade. We wanted a mix of outside speakers and speakers from the dioces. We thought of different themes for this years rally and finally decided on Friendship. The issues we t hought about were relationships, masks, friendship, and music. We were thinking of asking a local group SKIT to come and talk. We were also thinking of opening with a skit from the people who attend the deanery meetings.
Then we took a break to eat and we listened to music.
Next we talked about different service projects we could do. We decided to have a showcase of different musical groups to rais money for an orgaization- the bands that we thought of were Hornography, Omega, Shades of Blues, Random Fit, and 7 Ways Out. We are approaching these groups sometime before the next meeting and seeing if they would be interested. Some of the organizations we thought to raise money for were Right to Life, Donating it to the Needy, Cancer Society, Ronald McDonald Foundation, Make a Wish Foundation, Catholic Charities, Local Area Groups, The Salvation Army, and the Knights of Columbus.
For the next Meeting Come with Ideas for workshops for the Friendship youth rally. For our service project we are going to contact bands, check out places to have it possibly the Armory or St. Clements Gym. Check for a free weekend away for Pyramid Lake.
Our next meeting is planed forThursday Januaary 18, 2001 at 7pm
