"Pippi" (short for Pipsqueak)
1915 Folding Corona # 3
Pippi was christened with said name when she was unwrapped from the box that author Paul Block sent me for my birthday wish come true -- a wish to own a Folding Corona of my very own.  My mother, who had been very skeptical of the whole typewriter affair I carried on, saw the little tiny Corona 3 and cried, "What a pipsqueak of a typewriter!"  She couldn't get over how cute and small it was.  Pippi's carraige folds over to fit into the little case, and a typewriter buddy of mine from Australia, Bruce, was kind enough to send me a copy of a genuine Corona manual.  It's quite amusing to read, and ends on the last page with "Be careful with your portable Corona writing instrument.  It can be easily picked up by thieves.  If it does happen to be stolen, be sure to report the serial number to your nearest Corona dealer."

Pippi is definitely one of my favorite typewriters.  She gets sticky when it's humid and her bell is broken, but she is surely still a 'Pipsqueak"!
