| "Gary" 1932 Underwood #6 |

| Gary was named after the pet snail that the popular underwater cartoon character Spongebob Squarepants owns. The thing about Gary the animated snail is that he meows like a cat. Gary the snail is not good at being a cat, but he's awfully good at trying. Gary the typewriter tries to be a good typewriting machine, but he just can't seem to keep in working condition. From my best guesses, he had a hard life in some accounting office (he has decimal keys on a separate row) and that he's tired of pressing letters and numbers to paper -- they get stuck half-way up to the paper. Poor Gary. Gary's life changed the day that Setine was brought into the garage workshop. You can read about Setine at her own personal link on the typewriter index page. Gary determined to give his life to bettering Setine, and sacrificed himself for her happiness. In real, non-romantic terms, this means that I took Gary the typewriter apart and used his pieces to fix Setine, who was in much better overall shape. After all, she is the sparkling diamond! Literally, parts of Gary will always live on in Setine, and he will be sucessful as a typewriter once more... |
