Why me? Why here? Why now? Questions, questions and more questions. Its all I can think about now, locked up in this dingy cell when all Im guilty of is heroism, well in my eyes heroism is good, but in the eyes of evil well..Ive said too much! I suppose you want to know my story, well its a story of adventure, bravery and the overwhelming power of evil! * ~ * ~ * It all started in the year 2100 in Shropshire, England. It was a dull grey Monday morning and Jon, Kirsty and I were on our way to school. It was getting late, we never got to school on time but today there seemed a sinister feeling in the air.something wasnt right. Even Jon and Kirsty my two best friends could feel it, and there was one thing for sure none of us liked it. Soon a strange silence began to develop, taking us over, seeming to force us to keep our mouths tightly shut, something inhuman was working against us. We quickened our pace, neither one of us wanted to meet anyone or anything strange on the way. * ~ * ~ * Elsewhere Ive seen them, Ive found them master, spoke the stranger on his mobile phone. Well done my minion you know what you have to do next, replied a voice from the other end. Of course master it will be a pleasure. As the stranger ended his phone call he took from his pocket a handful of strange looking instruments and a set of instructions which read something like this; 1.Take the smallest condrol and place The motron on the top in the centre This will create the main part of your Capturer. 2. Take the larger condrol and use it as a base. This will help stabilise the whole thing. 3. Fix them all together and add the elasticated rope. 4. Your self-made Capturer is now ready to use. Once the stranger had finished building his peculiar piece of equipment he placed it back in his pocket and an evil smile spread across his face as he screamed out, Those children will never defeat the almighty master, Triton. As he quickly disappeared in a flash of blue and green light, the sheet of instructions gently floated to the pavement. * ~ * ~ * No sooner had the home time bell rung than children began pouring from the school gates. Kirsty, Jon and I were the first few to get out of the school. We all agreed that today had left a strange feeling in each of our stomachs. Yeah, it must be something in the air! I joked carelessly. No, seriously Jen! Jon replied, sternly. Its a really eerie feeling, dont you two think so? Yeah, Ive been feeling it too, said Kirsty, seriously. As we trudged along innocently a stranger watched us, unblinking. He was sniggering wildly to himself, he knew that we had no idea of what his plan held in store for us. Hello, cackled the stranger, Master? I expect all is in order, came a hoarse voice on the end of the line. Of course master those ignorant children are falling straight into my ingenious trap! answered the stranger, evilly excited. YOUR TRAP!!!!! screeched an angry voice at the end of the line, youll be heading for torture you you imbecile. The phone was slammed down furiously on the other end. Dont you think we should take the shortcut today, inquired Kirsty, the weather seems to be closing in on us, its so cold! Yep, youre certainly right about that Kirsty, I shivered. Cmon I dont think I can stand another moment of this chilling weather! included Jon. * ~ * ~ * Dang and blast those incredibly infuriating children, the stranger shouted, raging. He couldnt understand that not every plan runs smoothly. He dialled a number as quickly as he could and had to calm himself down before speaking. Those stupid children have ruined our, no your plans Master, the stranger quickly corrected himself. W..What should I do? GO AFTER THEM YOU IGNORANT PIECE OF SLIME! screamed the voice, as loud as was physically possible. O.OK HURRY, we dont want them getting away now do we? finished a rasping voice. And with that the stranger began to run as fast as he could towards the dark narrow alleyway the children had just entered, making sure he could not be seen or heard. * ~ * ~ * Can you wait for me a minute? I asked, Ive just got to do up my shoelace. OK well wait at the end of this alleyway, alright? replied Kirsty. Alright. As Kirsty and Jon began walking again I left myself as the perfect target for an evil, scheming stranger who had been watching all day, he had seen his chance and quickly he started to make his way toward me, while I innocently tied my shoelace. Aaaaaarrrgh!!! * ~ * ~ * As my two friends Jon and Kirsty reached the end of the alleyway, my piercing scream filled them with horror. Was it me? and what had happened? Was I hurt? Questions filled their heads, flowing constantly. What to do next? How to approach? Too much was happening. All the strange feelings that day and now me their best friend could be badly hurt! Suddenly in a flash of bright white light a tall, full-bodied figure appeared. He wore glittering blue robes reaching almost to the floor. His friendly, sparkling eyes were covered by crooked half moon glasses that seemed in desperate need of fixing. He seemed quite old, they could tell by his white beard and straggly grey hair. Although the look on his face told them that the reason for his being there was urgent, and there was no time for him to possibly give a decent explanation. An important matter needed dealing with, and fast. Who-who are you? Jon asked. Dont be afraid I am here to help you, chuckled the wizard. There was a short silence. Why are you here? added an anxious Kirsty. Jenny is in terrible danger! he exclaimed, worriedly. Why, whats happened to her? they screamed in perfect unison. Dark forces are working against you, their evil plans could lead to terrible destruction, the wizard muttered, he couldnt be sure who was listening to them. Why us though? I mean were nothing special, are we? Jon asked. Nothing special, Jenny is the Chosen One. And you, her chosen friends play an important role too. In other words its up to Jenny..and us to destroy the evil? questioned Kirsty. Well basically yes, but this is no human evil, you are up against alien forces- forces with the power to enter your mind and chew up any possible good thoughts that ever were to exist there, explained the wizard. But we c___ Dont you think we should find Jenny now, cut in the wizard. * ~ * ~ * You move and Ill kill in a way youve never seen, even in your nightmares! cackled the stranger triumphantly. Leave me alone, what do you want? I struggled. You know exactly what I want from you, he rasped, spitting carelessly as he spoke. He released me, stood back and confidently cast strong, thick, glowing vines around my wrists and ankles. I was completely helpless, or so I thought. Jon, Kirsty and a very strangely familiar man came rushing to my defence. The stranger fled, there was obviously something going on that I was unaware of. Danger surrounds you child, cried the familiar man. D-do I know you?! I stuttered. Well yes, or so you should. I am Grancold the wizard. Im here to assist you, in your hopeful conquering over evil. But why ____ You are the Chosen One, Grancold interrupted. Excuse me! That means that you must stop the evil forces from conquering Earth and causing terrible grief and misery. Foretold Grancold. Me alone? I inquired. Well you and your friends here. Jon and Kirsty, sir if you please. Added Jon. No need to call me sir, think of me as your new friend! chuckled Grancold. But seriously you must not under any circumstances tell the enemy anything or give them any clues, they are slowly but surely destroying the goodness in the world and its you whos got to stop them. * ~ * ~ * The next morning I woke normally, thinking that yesterday had all been a dream and I was once again a normal thirteen year old, and I didnt have the good of the world resting on my shoulders. I had told my Mum everything but it didnt surprise her. While everything had come as a great shock to me I found out that all along my parents had known, ever since the day I was born and they didnt even tell me. The doctors who cared for me knew there was something special about me, they just didnt know what. Anyway thats another story. Jenny, post! shouted Mum, from the bottom of the stairs. Post? I never get post! Well I dont recognise the typeface but it must be someone you know, replied Mum. I ran down the stairs eagerly, post for me! When I got downstairs there lying on the kitchen desk was a letter. I swiftly ripped open the envelope, almost tearing the message inside. It read: Meet me at 2:00 am On Saturday At Drobsdil field OR DIE Triton I knew this was danger, it was war and he was way ahead, I had school and homework while he could prepare an army and weapons. It was Tuesday, a full four days, really enough time to gather some strength and an army together at thirteen. I had to control everything, its not as if Im particularly smart either. * ~ * ~ * After school on the way home We wandered down the pavement worriedly, I had told Jon and Kirsty everything. How could I not, they were involved too. Ill help you Jenny, volunteered Jon, Ill ask my computer superbrain what our next move should be, after all that new teacher model, had an installed superbrain and the representative recommended them, apparently theyre top quality! Good idea, we need all the help we can get, Ill work on some tactics we need to think things through, thoroughly, suggested Kirsty. I suppose I need to gather up some troops, I just hope no-one gets killed, were supposed to be good not evil, I said, worriedly, unless the enemys major commanders die, were one step closer then; though I hate to resort to violence. Mmm I agree, it doesnt solve anything, agreed Jon. Wait, look at this, discovered Kirsty, as she picked up a piece of paper from the pavement. What is it? inquired Jon. It looks like a set of instructions.but what for? I suggested, intrigued. It was the enemys and we knew it, we just didnt like to admit it. We read them through carefully, it was obviously the instructions for some sort of trap, for us we didnt know but we were pretty sure it was. What if it was that you know, the one who tried to hurt me yesterday, I remarked. It was, Im sure it wasI-I mean who else has visited since whos from, you know their side, stuttered Kirsty. Then weve got to find him, Jon you take this home and scan it through your computer, will it show up fingerprints? And does it show stored information about the person they belong to? I questioned, we needed information - and fast. Yes, I just recently upgraded to the G99, Jon answered proudly, though this information meant nothing to us. We ran home excitedly, we had a plan. All we needed to do was put it successfully into action, that was the hard bit. Just then Grancold appeared to me, Be wise Jenny. Keep your wits about you and you shall not lose, go forth carelessly and the world shall see your destruction. Be brave Jenny, you have good friends. Jon and Kirsty will stand by you, listen to them they too speak sense, advised Grancold, wisely. I am confident Grancold, you are wise, your words to me are fact, I answered him, graciously. Have faith in yourself Jenny, You are the Chosen One. He faded slowly away as he finished his wise words. Bye Grancold! * ~ * ~ * By Thursday we all had high spirits, with Jons important information in print, we knew exactly where the enemy were situated and where their bases lay. We were beginning to get the upper hand, but for once in my life I wasnt looking forward to the weekend. Things could go either way on Saturday and I was only half-ready, to think of the consequences if we lost. * ~ * ~ * Saturday came all too soon, I had been up all night and we arrived two hours early, tactics and layout were important, the wrong preparation could lead to death. We were surprised to find that the enemy had not thought ahead, and arrived early, we didnt expect what happened at 2 oclock. A loud piercing sound penetrated our ears as strange spherical machines descended rapidly from the blackened sky. Their shiny metal glistening in the night sky. Suddenly the noise stopped as the strange crafts reached the ground. Doors in each began to open as a strange-looking army marched out and gathered in a formation in the centre of the field. We stood, stunned as the aircraft dissolved in a flash of golden light. They marched towards us with a plain look upon each of their faces. I concentrated hard on victory, when a voice inside urged me to command our army to march forward with confidence, time was on our side. MARCH, I yelled. We enclosed on the enemy though we were greatly outnumbered, I hadnt wanted any of this all I wanted was a better, safer world for people to live in without the strength of evil thriving. * ~ * ~ * After a long and terrible war, it ended with us the winners. How we celebrated, wishing that, that was the last wed see of them. Of course it wasnt. Wed be living dangerously now, looking behind us every minute of the day wondering how any of this could possibly end. I had one last trick up my sleeve though and I wasnt going to let it go to waste. What do we do now then? asked an anxious Kirsty. I have an idea, Im not sure whether itll work but isnt it worth a try? I explained. Definitely we want them off our backs for good. We left it at that, our minds were working overtime now we had an important job to do, and conversation had become rare. We only talked about vital subjects such as what to do next, or how are things going? We split up to go home; we were outside Kirstys house; Bye! See Ya, I called to her. Just as I reached the alleyway that had caused me such terror on Monday, I couldnt help noticing a strange, slobbering kind of noise coming form behind me. I turned, there behind me was a slimy being much like a human though slumped and primitive in appearance. It attempted to attack me, though somehow my mind knew just what to do and I moved my hand to face it as a laser bolt shot from it. It crippled, and let out a strange squeal. I turned and continued walking, but it arose and pounced on me leaving a sticky, smelly mess where it had touched me. All at once my mind went blank and I felt dazed as if I was drugged or something. It was controlling my mind; I could be sucked up at any moment. Even my gift couldnt save me now. * ~ * ~ * I was woken when I fell with a large thud onto a hard, cold floor. Thick glowing, green bars surrounded the cell I had been banished to, there was a chill in the air and I knew I was on enemy ground. Darkness and evil surrounded me and I knew not what to do next, my final plan had been ruined. I ran at the glowing green bars only to find that I was nearly shocked to death. Escaping could be fatal and I had no idea to get out of this nightmare. I couldnt see further than the green bars all around me. If this was my future then I wish Id never been born. I tried to repeat what I had performed earlier on the strange, alien being that followed me and brought me here. How I cursed it! How I wished Grancold would advise me now. * ~ * ~ * So six months later here I am still here and ready to tell my story to all thatll listen. How I long to see my family and friends once more and share my experience, they are rather extraordinary I have to agree. Believe me though its better to be normal and innocent than have a special gift and carry peoples lives in your hands. Brightlight. Its beautiful, a shining crystal. Eyes of wisdom, Eyes of woe, Show me my kingdom, Where I will GO! Sometimes I surprise myself; the gift lives on inside and shows itself in rather strange and mystical ways. Now its even showing magical power! Its glowing, the crystal is glowing. The light around it is dimming. But what does it mean? Its just hovering there, levitating. What does it symbolise? Why is it here? Wait a minute the mist inside it is clearing, a clear picture is there. Ive never been there, Ive never seen Wait, this must be my future! Maybe I am worth something, maybe my future will hold happiness, my family.I may see my family again. So long I have waited to see my future, longing for my life when I was innocent and the good of the Earth wasnt weighing on my shoulders. Now I have the strength to look forward, to have faith in my future without the wrath of evil, so that I can forget about The Darkness of Evil I have hated for so long. THE END
