True Story of Coincidence - The Laudromat

Local shares tale of mysterious connections. By Ann Mercer - The Times

A lot of people do believe there is a higher power that's involved in coincidence. They don't think it's an accident. They believe it's a divine appointment, a divine directive.

Sarah Hudson-Pierce believes that. She told us how she found a Missouri newspaper in an Oklahoma laundromat and how it led her home, in a way.
"Coincidences are one way of letting us know there is a higher power in control. It shows us we're very important people in the universe. We're not just here." Hudson-Pierce said.

The Laundromat

Sarah Hudson-Pierce, a local author, believes coincidence can be a reminder everything is connected and a higher power is in control. An experience she had in 1978 convinced her of that.

"Having grown up in an orphanage, I knew very little about my family. I had started making contact with some of the distant relatives found in an old family trunk. I had been corresponding with some of the Ritz family from Licking, Missouri for about a year."

"One day I was in a laundromat in Temple, Oklahoma when I picked up my laundry basket, what should I find but a paper from Licking, Missouri. My hand started shaking because I knew there was something in that paper for me."

"When I opened it up, I found a notice of a Ritz family reunion that they have every Fourth of July weekend. The next year I went to the reunion and they all signed their names to the picture in the paper."

"I knew that paper was meant for me to find."
