Williams v. Kansas City, 274 SW 2d 261 (1955).  A twelve year old bicyclist riding down a hill and coasting at 15 to 20 mph, hit a manhole which was raised in the middle of the street.  The manhole was elevated by two to four inches, according to the defendant, and as much as 10 or 12 inches, according to the plaintiff.  The lanes in the roadway were 13 feet wide, and the bicyclist was riding five to eight feet from the right hand curb.  Judgment for plaintiff with damages of $1000 awarde.  The plaintiff appealed on the single issue of damages, and the defendant appealed on all issues.  Judgment affirmed, case remanded for further proceedings on the single issue of damages.
