VI. Exam Questions |
Why do you think Pip felt uncomfortable after going to see Newgate prison? If Pip didn't have his fortune, do you think he would have felt different about the situation? Explain. |
Because of his new fortune, I think Pip has gotten a big ego. He thinks that people watch his every move and are going to judge him by what he does, just because he has money. I think, if Pip hadn't gotten his fortune, he would've felt very different about the situation. He probably wouldn't have minded to see the prison, and would've found it more interesting than anything. Pip wouldn't have cared if anyone saw him at Newgate. |

Why do you think Wemmick "walked among the prisoners much as a gardener might walk among his plants," and treated them as if they were normal aquaintances? |
I think that Wemmick was comfortable around the prisoners because he is used to being around them, for he works for Jaggars. I also think he wanted to show Pip how he really is like by showing him the prison. |

After Pip recieves the note from Estella, he finds out that she is coming to London. Why do you think she is coming to see him? |
I think Estella either wants to warn Pip about something that might happen, or to see how he is doing. Estella may also be there to tell him of his wrong doings, and how he messed up. Throughout the book, she is known to be cruel and harsh to Pip, and when she comes to London, she might be doing it just to spite him. |
