| These are the before pictures of our garden. Last fall we planted garlic along the base of the barn on the left and under the bed of leaves on the right. We are already putting up the fence and we will keep putting up new pictures all year. We are really excited about this project and can't wait to see how it goes! | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||

| YAY! The very first plants growing in our garden! They are Egyptian Onions which were a gift from a neighbor. He said they would be the first thing up in the spring, and was right! | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| These are artichoke seedlings, we have since seperated them into their very own pots and they are loving the root room! | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||

| This is our germination station. we closed off a room in the basement with a heater, thermometer, and grow lights to get our seeds going; then when they get big they graduate to upstairs where it's slightly cooler, and they get to go on walks (see below). | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||

| We brought our seedlings out for a walk on the porch the other day, the peppers had to come in early but all the others liked it! | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||

| This is the beginning of our fancy pants landscaping. We are expanding the existing beds on both ends and adding new ones (round with rock borders). We will be dong a lot more work to make our garden plesant to the eye as well as the pallet and will keep posting pictures as we go. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| Remember our Egyptian onions before? Well, look at them now! They love their new home and we love them. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||

| So we're getting along with our garden expansion... We're going to stick with the shapely look for all our new beds. This is so much fun! Next we are going to border all the edges with rocks, then eventually put some kind of mulch where the grass is. There is still a lot more space to expand the rest of the garden it will only get cooler, rounder, and more full of vegetables, herbs and flowers. There are lots of small black flies that suck your blood if you don't squish them but there are too many to squish them all... So check out the cool bug net hats that I made out of a regular hat and a visor by pinning cheesecloth around them, then tucking the cheesecloth into your collar, TADA! Fly proof! |
