Our Cold Frame! |
Along with our garden, we have a few other projects we are working on. This is our brand new (salvaged and entirely free!) coldframe for hardening off seedlings started indoors. We will be putting up more pictures as we add the final touches. |

We used scrap wood and old windows from the c.1915 farmhouse with their original glass and built it so the windows will be at a 35 degree angle to match the average angle of the sun. |

We dug into a slope so the earth will act as thermal mass to hold warmth, with the windows facing directly south to take full advantage of the suns movement. |

We plan to build up the earth we removed around the outside to add even more thermal mass. Then maybe plant some low growing plants on that. Also we will make the inside walls white to diffuse light. We will keep putting pictures up as this project progresses. |
