- Presidential
– a presidential government is when there are two different parts
legislative and executive. The
executive branch is like the president and the people that come with him,
like the vice president, but most importantly the president. The legislative branch is the group of
people who vote to pass the laws. These
two are separate, but they work together in a checks and balance type
process so that things are reasonably fair. One presidential government would be the
United States.
- Parliamentary
– a parliamentary is when there is only one section because the
legislature and executive branch are both one group. The legislature actually elects the
executive. So then the executive is
in office until the legislative people decide to boot him or her. A parliamentary in the World would be Britain.
- Dictatorship
– A dictatorship is when there is no real election. Someone is in “office” and has all the
power. There is no check and
balance. Only the ruler has the
decisions to do anything. Sometimes
they also take over things like the military and such. A dictatorship in the world would be Germany
when Hitler was in power.
