A strong individual central government does not take away all of our individual freedoms, but it will take away some.  This is because the government is our protection.  When we want safety that is when we give up some rights.  For instance, the central government is far away might be in the center of a huge area.  This government may not be able to watch out for problems in the government. This means that they would have to pass certain laws to keep the people protected.  Our rights involve our privacy.  Privacy might have to be taken away by the government placing cameras on the street corners of the outer cities.  They might decide that they need to have phones tapped just in case an outsider is trying to destroy the state.  This takes away our individual freedoms; therefore, a strong central government would automatically take away individual freedom.
