Dear Diane Feinstein:
I would like to address
the Election Recall. This recall could
be the downfall of our democracy. I say
this because this will open the doors to a whole knew idea of democracy, where
the people that we elect can easily be kicked out of their office. If we do have a recall, then this will show
the people in the future that it is okay to kick the governor out of office if
he “lied” to us, or if he/she is bringing down the economy. This entire recall is costing California 66 million dollars. This is even more money that we are being put
in debt because we are unhappy with the governor. Grey Davis was elected by the people;
therefore, we should be stuck with him.
It is not right to choose someone, and then choose someone else because this
shows that we cannot handle something that we are unhappy with. What is going to be next? Are we going to
have a recall election for the presidency because he lied to us? Many people are under the impression that the
recall can only make things better, but in fact they are making things
worse. This is because it is costing us
66 million dollars to re-elect someone for California’s governor.
If we did not have this recall then we would not be 66 million dollars
more into debt. Perhaps it could make
things better, but it is doubtful because most of the people that are running
for governor do not know how to govern a state, and those who do and who could
make things better in the state are less likely to win the election because the
people of California are tired of politics.
There are so many possible out takes on this recall election, but it
seems as though this will be a negative outcome than a positive outcome because
this will open the doors to other possible recalls, and then where will this
snowball end?
Thank you,
Sarah Scherff
