Questions Chapter 24 Section 3 1-6

 

  1. County is a major unit of local government; parish is an organized county governments; borough is an organized county government; township is a unit of local government in the states bounded by New York and New Jersey on the east; special district is an independent unit created to perform one or more related governmental functions at the local level.
  2. The two main groups of boards are the boards of comoissioners and the boards of supervisors.

  4. The sheriff keeps the jauils, the clerk registers and records documents like deeds, and the assessor appraises all of the taxable properties in the county.  These are three things that are elected officials of the counties.
  5. Town meetings are used to elect some of the men and women for certain jobs in govenrning the town this is an assembly that is open to all of the towns eligible voters.
